INTRODUCTION TO 2899 MAGAZINE – VOLUME 1 ISSUE 3
Welcome to issue 3 of 2899 Magazine.
In this edition of the magazine we take a closer look at one of Norfolk’s most unique traditions – Working the ship. We take a walk in ‘Queen Victoria’s Garden’ and learn a little about Tying the knot – island style’. Bruce Baskerville discusses Kingston’s journey from convict outpost to World Heritage Nomination and Kevin Mills explores the extraordinary story of Phillip Island’s vegetation.
The overwhelming feedback for the magazine continues and with that comes the challenge of keeping it as exciting and visually impressive as the first. However, while shooting the images to accompany the articles in the magazine I found myself invited and welcomed in a way I hadn’t experienced before. Whether in a lighter boat, in someone elses kitchen, or holding a camera in front of someone I had barely met, I felt an acceptance and a confidence that I would capture and relate what I saw to the best of my ability.I found this to be a wonderful discovery and it is one that I believe shines directly through its pages.
I hope you enjoy this, the third issue of 2899 magazine as it certainly is a milestone edition in many ways. It marks the end of the first volume though hopefully the beginning of something much larger and it shows that the journey of this publication is well underway. It is however a journey with no real destination, rather a goal – and the longer the journey the greater the goal.
