For Norfolk Islanders growing food, rearing livestock and providing for the island’s people has been a part of island life for every settlement and it’s as important today as it always has been. Fresh home-grown produce and paddock-to-plate freshness is a staple part of the Norfolk Island diet and it’s something they have become spectacularly good at.Â
Baunti Tours’ Taste of Norfolk is a unique way to get a real insight into the epicurean side of the island. You’ll meet first hand some passionate producers and who will help you learn a little about just what it takes to get produce from the paddock – or hive – to the plate, and why you can literally taste the difference.
The Baunti Team will take you to a variety of boutique producers which might include: Visiting bee-keepers to learn about the fascinating local honeybees and taste their delicious honey. A salt producer that creates salt for local tables from the surrounding oceans. We visit a variety of producers depending on season and availablity.
You’ll hear about traditional dishes and skills passed down by the Islander’s Tahitian foremothers. The Taste of Norfolk tour is a delectable option for curious visitors and ‘foodies’ alike. It’s a thrill for the senses – especially taste!
