The Bounty Story – Pinetree Tours Feature

The Bounty Story
Discover the entire Bounty Story with ‘Voyager’ in a spectacular 80minute Cinema show
Picture this: It’s the 1850s and you are on-board a ship in the South Pacific Ocean. The theatre lights are dimmed. You are about to embark on an 80 minute cinema journey with ‘Voyager’, a fictional all-knowing character that connects the infamous Bounty mutiny with your modern day Norfolk Island experience in a way never told before.
With beautiful visuals, ambient music, stunning cinematography, and spectacular lighting effects both on the screen and in the theatre, Voyager brings the complete Bounty Story to life – from 1700s England to modern day Norfolk Island.
The film was written and directed by long-time Norfolk Island resident, Robin Nisbet. Robin’s artistic flare and his knowledge of Norfolk’s history, together with his peerless photographic eye for detail, is at the heart of this visual feast, brought to life with vibrant theatre lighting effects that fill the room. Together with Pinetree Tours, they have produced a wonderful and unique ‘must-see’ Norfolk Island event for every touring schedule.
The project was pitched to Pinetree Tours in early 2023 following discussions about giving a fresh revival to the Bounty Show – a large scale live acting show that was operated by Pinetree Tours for several decades. Pinetree’s original Bounty Show was retired a few years ago as a result of increasing acting costs and operational challenges, but Pinetree Tours knew there was space on the touring calendar for a striking and modern retelling of one of the greatest ocean-going sagas of all time.
The story of the mutiny on the Bounty is after all a timeless tale of seafaring misadventure, and as the shows’ monologue introduction tells us, “stories should be told.” With that, Voyager recalls the entire Bounty story, and one thing is for certain – you’ll leave with a deeper appreciation of just how much one single event in history has infused every little part of your Norfolk Island experience.
So, waste no time and jump on board with ‘Voyager’. The Bounty Story is shown every Sunday night at the Ferny Lane Theatre*
Pinetree Tours have been operating for over 40 years and their tours range from the fun and frivolous to the more historically centred outings. So, whether you are wanting to dress up as a convict for the Night as a Convict Dinner or delve a little deeper into the many layers of Kingston’s history – their expert team are here to help. After all, ‘they’ve got Norfolk covered!’
