INTRODUCTION TO YOURWORLD INFLIGHT | ONSHORE – VOLUME 1 ISSUE 4 

Welcome to YourWorld Inflight | Onshore. This is the fourth issue of YourWorld and marks the end of its first year of publication. 2899 Design has been producing a Norfolk Island magazine (YourWorld and its predecessor, 2899 Magazine) for three years, during which time we have produced well over fifty articles encompassing a diverse range of Norfolk Island topics across a spectrum of places, industries, events and time. It is a great honour and privilege to bring you so many stories and features for you to read and enjoy, to use as a guide and to share with others.

I once again extend a welcome to Norfolk Island’s Minister for Tourism, the Hon. André Nobbs, and Norfolk Air CEO Jeff Murdoch who continue to offer their support in endorsing Your World as the official Inflight magazine for Norfolk Air flight services.

In this issue Margarita Sampson introduces us to Sue Draper and Tracey Yager, the two artists responsible for Fletcher’s Mutiny Cyclorama, a 50 metre, 360 Degree panoramic painting that brings to life the story of the descendants of the Bounty mutineers and is now one of Norfolk’s world class attractions.

Mary Christian-Bailey has a look at life in the days of the Melanesian Mission settlement on Norfolk Island.
The Melanesian Mission is certainly one of Norfolk’s lesser-told stories, though it is of great importance and significance and it is one that I hope to look at further through Your World in the years to come.

Also, KAVHA Site Manager Bruce Baskerville takes us on a walk around the ‘the seven bridges of Kingston’, Detective Sergeant Vince Pannell guides us through the history of policing on Norfolk Island in the lead up to the 80th Anniversary of the Norfolk Island Police Force and Norfolk Island Museum curator Lisa Richards revisits a 2010 conservation project to safegaurd the Museums’ Bounty Cannon.
