INTRODUCTION TO YOURWORLD NORFOLK ISLAND – VOLUME 2 ISSUE 2

Welcome to YourWorld Norfolk Island, Volume 2 Issue 2.

On February 26th 2012 we waved a final farewell to Norfolk Air flight services for the last N5 departure from Norfolk Island. It was great to see the aircraft receiving such a fabulous send off. With that, a new era of flight services from Australia has begun with Air New Zealand.

Air New Zealand already have a long and proud history of flying to Norfolk Island from Auckland and like many of us here, I look forward to a positive and prosperous future. Further in this publication there is information about the Air New Zealand flight services. The Air New Zealand logo and aircraft now feature on the cover, and in coming months YourWorld will be available in Air New Zealand’s lounges at their Australian ports of departure to Norfolk Island.

Traditionally many of YourWorld’s readers have initially engaged with and collected this publication on board a Norfolk Air flight, and while that trend has changed, I remain confident that the benefits of the magazine to you the reader are exactly the same. Our advertiser inclusion has increased in 2012 ensuring that YourWorld will represent the most comprehensive listing of businesses, services, shops, accommodation houses, hotels, tours, activities, restaurants, cafe’s, realtors and travel agencies on Norfolk Island today. You are invited to take this publication, use it as a guide to Norfolk Island and to take it with you when you leave to share a little piece of this pacific paradise with your friends and loved ones.

YourWorld is a freely distributed publication. If you feel there is anything we can do to make this publication more accessible to you, or if you have any feedback or suggestions, then please contact us at: info@yourworldofnorfolk.com.au

In this issue we have some fascinating articles and look at the St. Barnabas Chapel today, some recollections of Second Settlement convict Laurence Frayne, The Norfolk Language and Tapa Cloth. We also have a look at Telecommunications on Norfolk Island ahead of the 2012 PITA (Pacific Islands Telecommunications Association) conference being held on the island. PITA is a nonprofit organisation that represents the interest of 23 Island nations in the Pacific Region in the field of telecommunications and will bring 170-180 delegates to Norfolk Island.

We hope you enjoy your stay on beautiful Norfolk Island.
