INTRODUCTION TO YOURWORLD NORFOLK ISLAND – VOLUME 6 ISSUE 2
Welcome to YourWorld Norfolk Island, Volume 6 Issue 2 – Norfolk Island’s freely distributed visitor guide.
In this issue we meet some creatures who have shared Norfolk’s waters with the inhabitants of this bountiful island for hundreds of years, and have surely circulated the island for millions of years before that. I’m referring of course to one of natures most fascinating creatures – Sharks. We’re also taken on a tour around one of Norfolk’s most premier attractions – The Pitcairn Settler’s Village:
A working Norfolk Island homestead that dates back to 1875.
The Pitcairn Settler’s Village is located next door to the Gallery Guava in the Cyclorama complex where we are introduced to a colourful selection of Norfolk artists and their work, which can be found on display there.
If you’re keen to learn a little about what steps are being taken by the Norfolk Island Museums to preserve Norfolk and Pitcairn Island’s material culture for generations to come, be sure to read Janelle Blucher’s article, Connected Culture. This article particularly fascinates me because it is synonymous with the long term goals of this publication. I have always hoped that by sharing Norfolk’s stories with you, in some way, the magazines become a small part of preserving them.
Finally, I’d like to point out that this publication is funded entirely by our advertising partners. They can be found throughout the publication, so please make sure you take time to see what they can offer you during your stay and beyond.
I wish you all the best for your stay on beautiful Norfolk Island.
